School Rebuild Programme

Education plays a crucial role in fighting against poverty. However, schools in rural areas are far from main roads. High transportation costs and construction fees became a huge burden to local schools.
Therefore, A Drop of Life started the School Rebuild Programme, to evaluate the school environment and design a new and safe school building for students.

The Criteria in Choosing Schools to Rebuild

  • Located in rural areas that are far from main roads.

  • Schools with old and broken buildings that possess risks of collapse  

  • Schools that are not allow to offer higher grade classes due to the limited space

New School Design

  • Designed by Hong Kong architects and local engineers

  • All schools are built with strong foundation and steel, which may reduce the risk of collapsing during earthquake

  • There are total 4-8 classrooms with windows to ensure a better ventilation and lighting for students to read and learn

Shree Rastriya Adharbhut Bidhyalaya School

The school buildings were severely damaged and possess the risk of collapsing after the 2015 Nepal earthquake. The new school building allow school to offer higher level of study, which may improve the education level for the whole village.

Rebuilt: One school building with 4 classrooms in total

Drigheshwor Secondary School

The first school A Drop of Life rebuilt. The building completely collapsed after the earthquake, students can only have lessons under a simple shelter made of bamboo and iron sheets.

Location: Phujel, Gorkha, Nepal
Benefiting: 417 students
Rebuilt: a two-story school building with 8 classrooms
Completion date: 2017

Shaewgyi Village School

A 38 year-old school that built upon a lake. Since the pillars have been soaking under the water for years, they have all rot, and holes and cracks were found on the wall and stairs of the school building.

Location: Nyaungshwe, Inle Lake, Myanmar
Benefiting: 59 students
Rebuilt: two school buildings with 6 classrooms
Completion date: Aug, 2018

Shree Ratna Secondary School

The school is made up of three buildings. After the 2015 Nepal earthquake, one of the school buildings suffered severe damage to its exterior walls, supporting pillars, and foundation. It is at risk of collapsing at any time.

Shree Kankalni Basic School

One of the school building have completely collapsed after the earthquake. Students can only have lessons in a temporary building that made from iron sheets, or even a mud land next to the school.

Benefiting: 180 students
Rebuilt: one school building with 4 classrooms

HVTO Center Library

We chose a school that grown from 50 students to 511 students to build a library, hoping that kids in the village can the broaden their horizon through reading.
